Windward Light by Heavy for Royop in Township

Goldray Glass worked with Heavy Industries providing their beautiful Dichroic Glass product line for an Urban Art installation in Calgary, Alberta.

I was hired by Goldray Glass to produce images of the project for their company publications and marketing.

After a very flexible brief with Goldray I went out one evening to have a look and take a few test shots.

They requested both a Daytime and Night time gallery series of images.

The structure is about 70’ long with lots of dichroic glass attracting sunlight, reflections and colour from all directions.

The piece is also lit specifically to highlight each piece of glass for an impressive night time expression.

I was very excited about this job, this subject was beautiful, interesting and ridiculously photogenic.

I went out on a Saturday afternoon in January, conditions were perfect, sunny and -20c

This thing was so much more interesting than I expected, it was awesome, I loved it.

I used three focal lengths of lenses - 16mm, 35mm and 60mm. All provided their own unique eye.
