Event Photography

Boston Consulting Group hired me to document a reception they hosted in Calgary as part of The 24th World Petroleum Congress 2023. The event was held to launch a report they published with partner WPC Energy.

The report – Untapped Reserves 3.0 - talks about advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Energy Sector.

Approximately 80 people were at the cocktail / networking party. The venue was intimate and the lighting was challenging to manage, but the overall vibe was tasteful and civilized.

This was my first paid event photography job, I was asked to take networking photos.

It was a very interesting experience to be hovering, especially with cameras dangling off my chest.  I chatted small talk with a few people but I really have a lot to learn about this niche of photography. There is a fine line between distraction and intrusion.

I was a little nervous at first but felt more confident with time. I enjoyed it and hope to do more event photography again soon.
